The Zoll AED Pro is an automated external defibrillator that is designed with advanced capabilities to support both Basic Life Support and Advanced Life Support professionals. New features include:
- ECG monitoring with standard ECG electrodes
- Combined AED capability with manual defibrillation, with controlled access for ALS users
- Unmatched ruggedness and durability.
Why is this Part Innovative?
The Zoll AED Pro offers a high-resolution LCD display that allows responders to visualize a patient's ECG while utilizing a 3-lead monitoring cable. It also provides a real-time feedback mechanism that allows rescuers to see and hear how well they are performing the rate and depth of the chest compressions during CPR. From a processing perspective, the unit is innovative because it is made of materials (polycarbonate, TPU and TPE) that will endure severe impact while keeping all working components in tact. In fact, it is the only AED in the industry to withstand a 1.5-meter drop test, making it suitable to withstand the rough treatment typically found in the emergency medical services environment. Rubber over-molds are built to withstand harsh environments, and the unit is exceptionally resistant to dust and water jets (IP55 rating). Gas-assist, straight injection, overmolding and insert molding are the processes used to mold 20 parts for the Zoll AED Pro. Gas- assist is used to fill out thick sections; insert molding provides a watertight seal for a clear window in a colored part; and overmolding is used for the gasketing and to provide a layer of impact-absorbing resin. There is also a unique tool design for the door mold ñ with runner block changes, the tool is capable of molding the substrate, the overmold and the gasket.
Process
Gas Injection Molding, Injection Molding, Overmolding, & Insert Molding - Gas-assist fills out thick sections, insert molding seals watertight for clear windows in colored part, overmold provides a layer of impact absorbing resin and gasketing.
