Awards
The following awards will be presented at a special Alliance of Plastics Processors awards banquet in the West Pavilion of Chicago’s McCormick Place on Wednesday, June 24. There will be a joint reception with the International Trade Center followed by the awards ceremony. Prior to the awards event, IPDC entries will be featured at the prestigious Hall of Fame dinner on Monday, June 22, 2009. In addition, winning companies will be invited to a special press breakfast with members of the plastics industry trade press.
Innovations in Plastics Award
Presented to the most overall innovative part/product. The winner of this award enters the Division’s Hall of Fame.
Emerging Technology Award
Presented to an entry for the most innovative use of emerging technology in its design. Examples of emerging technology include bio-based materials, nanotechnology or biodegradable plastics. Such characteristics must be emphasized in the product entry form.
IPDC People’s Choice Award
People visiting the IPDC website and those attending NPE cast their votes for the entry they find most innovative.
Judges’ Award
Judges reserve the right to present a Judges’ Award to a part that stands out among the entries, but does not win its market category.
Single Part Award
Presented to the most innovative single part that is not entered as a component of a total system.
Project Award
Presented to the most innovative application or system.
Sustainable Part/Component Award
Presented to the most innovative part/component entry that leads to improvements in energy efficiency, waste reduction, pollution reduction, and/or water conservation in the use of the finished product.
Sustainable Consumer Product Award
Presented to the most innovative consumer product entry that yields improvements in energy efficiency, waste reduction, pollution reduction, and/or water conservation.
Sustainable Process Award
Presented to the most innovative entry that is produced through a manufacturing process that yields improvements in energy efficiency, waste reduction, pollution reduction, and/or water conservation during the course of production.
Individual Category Awards
First place awards are presented to the most innovative commercial product entry in each category.
12th Annual IDSA/Plastics News Design Award
The Industrial Designers Society of America (IDSA) and Plastics News sponsor this award presented to a commercial product entry in recognition of the important work performed by industry designers and to highlight the fruits of teamwork between designers, toolmakers and manufacturers. The judges for this award are selected by the IDSA.
