Why is the product innovative?
The collar of the new Salomon "Ghost” freerider alpine ski-boot constitutes one of the first commercial uses worldwide of DuPont ™ Hytrel® RS (renewable-sourced) thermoplastic elastomer. Providing all the traditional performance characteristics of Hytrel® for such a demanding winter sports application, the particular grade of Hytrel® RS used contains 27 wt% renewably-sourced material. The properties of Hytrel® RS include excellent flex fatigue and flexibility at temperatures as low as -20 °C and high impact resistance. Freeriders using this boot have returned with very positive comments on its behavior over a wide temperature range. In addition, the use of its Hytrel® RS, containing renewably-sourced material, fits with the eco-friendly mindset of freeriders, in harmony with mountains and nature.
